1.About

The Japanese version of Contra contained a flimsy story that was pruned for the US release. This famous example led to the game being fan translated around 1999 making it one of the first games to be fan translated. Over ten years later I have a new patch for the game that is superior in every way to the old patch minus the cool Gryzor title screen. I mean no offense to the original patch, I just want to show how far rom hacking has come since then.

The title screen gets in the way of the sound test mode, but after you exit, it's fine. It's only the bottom row of tiles and my best solution would be placing the Konami logo outside the "Safe Area."

The common ROM sites I go to incorrectly list the game Gryzor (J) so in some cases you'll want to get that ROM. Otherwise it's Contra (J).
