Character Building System (Excerpt)
|
Fighter: |
Hey! How's it going? We fought alongside the almighty Alphaz in the struggle against Ragmeila, and now we're here to explain Dark Lord's character building system! |
Wizard: |
Even before you gear up to stop Ragmeila's plan, you'll find character building immensely useful as you go about aiding the townsfolk, so do be sure to read carefully before you start playing. |

So, where to begin? Raising abilities, you think? |
Wizard: |
In general, abilities are improved by taking jobs at the guild. Of course, after you gain experience, you can improve abilities by leveling up as well. |
Fighter: |
Yeah, you can level up by visiting the king if you've got enough experience. The problem is, sometimes if you're unlucky your abilities will go down, too. Still, if you remember to save at the inn first, you can always just reset and try again if you don't like how your ability adjustments turned out. Whether that's cheating or not is your call. |
Wizard: |
Once you've got the basics down, try finding some work. |
Fighter: |
"But golly gee, there are so many jobs out there! However shall I choose?" |
Wizard: |
Taking a job will give you 50 XP multiplied by your current level, as well as cause changes in some abilities. Most jobs that improve an ability will lower another as well. You can see a chart showing which abilities are affected by which jobs on the next page. |
Fighter: |
Not only that, but if you stick with some jobs long enough, you'll acquire a skill. However, each character can learn at most four skills, so watch out that you don't wind up learning skills you don't need. If you're taking jobs that give you skills, you might want to switch them around every now and then to make sure you don't learn anything. It's a little annoying, but we recommend building up your abilities first and saving skill-learning for later. |
