Shi Kin Jou
(Forbidden City)
Instruction Manual
v1.00
-------------------------------- INTRODUCTION ---------------------------------
Shi Kin Jou is a puzzle game released by TOEI Animation for the Famicom game
system in 1991. It was enver officially released in English but was translated
by Suicidal Translations and released on September 3rd, 2001.
This file serves as an instruction manual for the translated game. It is not a
translation of the original instruction manual but is an original work based on
my experiences playing the game.

---------------------------------- THE STORY ----------------------------------
You've been locked in the dungeons of The Forbidden City for a crime you didn't
commit. Now you must solve dozens of puzzles if you ever wish to escape the
maze-like confines of The Forbidden City.
---------------------------------- GAMEPLAY -----------------------------------
As with most puzzle games, the play control in Shi Kin Jou is rather simple.
The difficulty lies in figuring out the individual levels.
General play control is as follows:
Left/Right: move left/right
Down: move down
Up: move up
B: open the menu
A: undo your last move
When you bring up the menu with B, you have the following options:
Reset: Redo the current level from the beginning.
Theme: Select betwen the Vampire, Knight & Ninja themes. The only different is
overall look of each level.
Next: Skip to the next level (assuming you've completed the current level)
Previous: Go back one level.
Select: Jump to any level you've already achieved.
Password: Enter a password to jump to the corresponding level.
At the top of the menu, you'll see the stage # you're currently in. At the
bottom of the menu, you'll see the password you can use to jump back to that
level at a later point.
----------------------------- DISTRIBUTION NOTES ------------------------------
This Shi Kin Jou translation should be distributed in a file named skjv100.zip
and should contain the following files:
skjv100.ips - the translation patch
shikinjou.txt - the readme file
skj-man.txt - this manual
All three files are (C)opyright 2001 by Suicidal Translations. All rights
reserved. You may distribute this translation in any manner you desire as long
as the original archive remains intact with no modifications and the archive is
distributed free of charge.
Shi Kin Jou is (C)opyright 1991 by TOEI Animation.
---------------------------------- CONCLUSION ---------------------------------
So there you have it. The game itself is rather simplistic but the challenge is
rather frustrating on some levels. I'm currently in level 82 as of the writing
of this file and have no idea how many levels there are total.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. The official site of the Shi Kin
Jou translation is at http://www.pigtails.net/ST and you can find the most
current contact information there as well.
